Auditions

Who is eligible to audition?
Auditions for new members are open to anyone entering grades 3 through 7.

How do I schedule an audition?
Choirs have been selected for this concert season. Our auditions for next year will be held from May 7 - 30, 2009. Appointments will be scheduled after May 4th at 223-4495.

Where are the auditions held?
CCC auditions are held in the choir room at Christ United Methodist Church at 301 E. Drake.

What happens during the audition?
We ask you to arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled audition time to fill out paper work and relax. When it is time for your audition, you will meet some of our staff. The singing portion of your audition will include:
 - "My Country 'tis of Thee", Verse 1 (Words provided)
 - Exercises to check range
 - Listening to musical patterns and repeating them
 - Round - such as "Are You Sleeping" to check independent part singing
You may choose to have your parent in the room with you or to have him/her wait in another room while you are auditioning. Expect the singing portion of your audition to take 10 minutes.

How will I learn whether or not I was accepted?
Within a few weeks, you will receive a letter notifying you of the results of your audition.

How are singers who are accepted assigned to choirs?
Selected singers are placed in choirs based on their audition and experience. New auditions are eligible for Bel Canto (entering grades 3-5); Jubilate (entering grades 4 -7); and Cantare (entering grades 6-7). We also have a one-month group called First Impressions for third and fourth graders.

When would I rehearse?
Rehearsals for all CCC choirs are held on Monday evenings. The 2009-2010 season will begin with a Fall Workshop on August 21 and 22, with weekly rehearsals commencing the following Monday.
